When Do You Need a Building Permit?
RESIDENTIAL (1 and 2-Family Dwellings)
A Building Permit is required if you intend to construct, enlarge, convert, move, demolish or change the occupancy of any residential building or accessory structure regulated by the Uniform Construction Code.
Your Township or Municipality may require additional permits or approvals for your project. These permits or proof of approval may be required before a building permit will be issued. These additional permits and approvals may include:
· Zoning Permit or Approval (List of Municipalities Requiring Prior Approval)
· Water/Sewer connections or Sewage Systems approval (for more information see our Sewage System Permits or Water/Sewer connection pages)
· Driveway Permit from your Municipality or PENNDOT (for State Owned Roads)
· Subdivision or Land Development plans
· A Valid Street Address from your GIS Department (Union County) or (Snyder County) or (Northumberland County)
· Floodplain management regulations compliance
· HARB Application (Lewisburg Borough Only)
If you are unsure whether or not you need a Building Permit or additional approvals, contact us first and we will let you know.
