The major impact of this legislation was to remove repairs and non-structural alterations from the Uniform Construction Code (Act 45). Click on this Link to Analysis of Act 92-2004 to review the changes to the Uniform Construction Code.
In 2008, the Pennsylvania Legislature passed the Pennsylvania Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act. The law requires that all "Home Improvement Contractors" who perform at least $5,000 worth of home improvements per year will need to register. As of July 1, 2009, all home improvement contractors who meet this criteria, will have to be registered with the Bureau of Consumer Protection in the Attorney General's Office.
